Dear Fellow SysOp:

This has been another strong month as ABBSA continues to grow. 28 new member
boards have been added in the past 30 days, bringing total membership up to
360 BBS Members.

There are a number of states without a State Chairman! If your state is one of
these and you would like to take on the job, please contact us at the National
Office.

For distribution of the National Support Echo Conference, and as a means of
communication among Member Boards, last month we created ABBSA-Net for echoing
and messaging via front-end mailers in addition to the availability of the
echo via QWK message packets. In this regard we are still looking for regional
and state hubs. If you would be interested in taking on one of these, please
contact us at the National Office. The network is growing since its inception
in October, and with your help we anticipate being able to complete the basic
link-ups by the end of December.

In addition to the previous means of contacting us, we can now be reached via
the Internet. The Internet address is:

                         ac038@dayton.wright.edu

Recently we have been contacted by various individuals & organizations in
regards to distribution of software and information. It is our position that
we do not and will not endorse or actively distribute such material. We have,
however, agreed to accept same, and to simply make it available for our
members. To accomplish this we have established a special file area, the
ABBSA Exchange on the Dayton BOARDWALK BBS. Any member is welcome to sign-on
and download any of the files in this area. But again, please keep in mind
that THE PRESENCE OR PLACEMENT OF ANY FILE OR INFORMATION IN THIS AREA -DOES
NOT- CONSTITUTE AN ENDORSEMENT BY ABBSA! Any material which is contrary to our
goals and/or ethics policy will be removed if found to be uploaded to this
area. We will POST here in the newsletter what NEW material we have received,
but none of the material will be distributed with any ABBSA files. You will
have to call and download it if you want it.

Finally, we are aware that there may have been a potential problem with the
mail and some applications. The National Membership List included in the file
ABBSA011.ZIP -SHOULD- be up-to-date and include all applications received as
of 11/13/93. If you have mailed in an application and ARE NOT included in the
new National Membership List, please contact us so that we can make resolve
the matter.

As always, we are ready and willing to assist you in any way, but remember ...
it is the State Chapters and their Regions that make up the ABBSA and we
encourage all to take an active part in their respective Chapters to the
fullest extent possible.

                                            John Kay
