 WHAT'S NEEDED
Any Mouse compatible with Microsoft. 2 or 3 button.

Mouse Magic works on any Mouse compatible with Microsoft,
2 or 3 buttons. These Mice while working with Mouse Magic will also
work as a Microsoft Mouse giving you the best of both worlds.

That is...the Mouse will work with Mouse Magic to make your
Non-Mouse programs work with your Mouse, and also work any program that
is Mouse ready for a Microsoft compatible Mouse.

                                                                       page 1

BUT I DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT MOUSE

On the order form we have included an opportunity to order
the "Gold Addition" with all available Mouse Magic menus for $25,
also a Mouse for $15, and a new Mouse with the "Gold Addition" for $35.
We will continue to provide Mice at this price as long as we can.

You will need a Mouse that uses a Microsoft compatible Mouse
command. When buying a Mouse make sure it is one that is Microsoft
compatible. Mouse Magic will work with every Mouse available except
Mouse Systems, and will work with Mouse Systems if it can be operated
     in the Microsoft mode.

 INSTALL MOUSE
On your disk that came with your Mouse you will find
Mouse.com, this command must be loaded first.
Install your Mouse according to it's instructions.

Make sure directory your Mouse uses is in your path.
     EXAMPLE:
                    path=c:\mouse

 INSTALL MOUSE MAGIC
To install Mouse Magic put your shareware disk in a drive,
switch to that drive, type INSTALL. Install will configure Mouse
Magic for your system and add the Mmagic.exe to your autoexec.bat.
Then will make a MMAGIC directory on the drive you choose and
     install Mouse Magic to it.
     EXAMPLE:
                    a:\
                    install

 INSTALL TO ANY DIRECTORY

To install to ANY directory, type INSTALL (DRIVE) (DIRECTORY)
     EXAMPLE:
To install Mouse Magic to your Mouse directory
                    a:\
                    install c mouse

 SETTING UP MOUSE MAGIC

    Mouse Command:
The Mouse Command is a resident program, when installed it
is available for your Mouse wherever you are in your computer. Your
computer should be told to load the Mouse.com in your autoexec.bat
     every time you boot up.
     EXAMPLE:
           In your autoexec.bat
                   C:\mouse\mouse.com

                                                                       page 2

    Mmagic Execute:
After the Mouse.com is installed, install the Mmagic.exe.
The Mmagic.exe is also resident and will capture the Magic menu that
the 1.com later tells it to use. Install has added Mmagic.exe /12 to
your autoexec.bat and Mouse Magic will be ready to go.
After your Mouse.com is loaded in your autoexec.bat load
     Mmagic.exe.
     EXAMPLE:
           In your autoexec.bat
                    C:\mouse\mouse.com
                    C:\mmagic\Mmagic.exe /12

Mmagic.exe may need to be increased in usage size. To do this
you add a number as an argument - C:\MMAGIC\MMAGIC/20. Argument may be 1
thru 20. A larger number will allow the Mmagic.exe to run larger menus.
We recommend at least 10, if you can spare a little more RAM make it 20.
When you installed Mouse Magic the Mmagic.exe was loaded with
\12, this seems about right for the usage of this program.

 SAMPLE SET UP

     1. You should have a directory (C:\MOUSE) with Mouse.com, a
directory (C:\MMAGIC) with Mmagic.exe and the Mouse Magic program.

     2. In your autoexec.bat you should have,
                 path=c:\;c:\dos c:\MOUSE
                 c:\mouse\MOUSE
                 c:\mmagic\MMAGIC/12

 PATH

While the Mouse.com needs to have its directory in path the
Mmagic.exe does not. The batch files that Mouse Magic installed in your
root directory add to the path the directory for Mouse Magic. Each
time you use 1.bat, See.bat, or Mhelp.bat, Mouse Magic's directory is
     placed in path automatically.

SETTING UP MOUSE MAGIC - DISK

You must load the Magic Menu before using your program.
It's best to copy the Magic Menu needed to your program disk and a
     batch file to implement it.

 MENUS
Menus are files in the Mouse Magic directory with the
extension of .mnu. The menus, in most cases, are named to match your
program. The index.txt lists the Menus and the programs each will
     support.

                                                                       page 3

 CHKMAGIC.COM (Check Mouse Magic)

A checking utility for Mouse Magic. Chkmagic when executed
will come up and tell you if your Mouse is loaded and if it is
     acceptable for Mouse Magic.
             Chkmagic will look at 1.bat, See.bat, Mhelp.bat, 1.com and
See.com to check if they are functioning properly. Also Chkmagic
actually runs the 1.com through the 1.bat as you would in Mouse Magic's
normal usage and reports any condition that might cause Mouse Magic to
     fail.
If Mmagic.exe is not loaded it will load it automatically with
an argument of 12 (\12). Chkmagic must remain in the same directory as
     Mmagic.exe.
Any trouble with your Mouse run Chkmagic. This utility will
inform you of the problem and really save headaches.

 MHELP.COM (Help)

With Mouse Magic properly installed, you will find mhelp.bat
in your root directory. By typing MHELP anywhere in your computer the
mhelp program will come up and give you a full index of Mouse Menus
available, these instructions, and printing options.
This makes using Mouse Magic easy. Anywhere on your computer
at any time you have available Help, and a full index of programs
     that use Mouse Magic.
     EXAMPLE:
                type: MHELP (enter)

 INDEX.TXT (Index of programs)

The Index included lists programs and the Magic Menus
that run the Mouse for that program. Also all generic menus
and what action the Mouse uses for them.

 INSTRUCT.TXT (this file)
This file was written in ASCII and can be viewed many ways.
Commonly with mhelp, also See and the DOS type command.

 1.COM (menu loader and runner)

1.com is the hart of Mouse Magic, it will load the proper
menu for your Mouse to use, and then run your program.

The Menu for each program must be sent to the Mmagic.exe
before running your program. To do this type 1 (program). Where
(program) is the name of your program (no extension), the Magic.exe
     will automatically find the menu.
     EXAMPLE:
In DOS type: 1 DESKTOP (enter)
you will see: DESKTOP Magic Mouse Loaded
               Desktop program will execute

                                                                       page 4

Mmagic.exe is telling you that your menu (desktop) is
loaded and ready to go, and then run the program desktop.

If the Magic Menu uses a different name, (because of
possible conflicts), type 1 (program) (menu). (menu) being
     the Mouse Magic menu name.

The program FormTool uses formtool.exe to execute and has a
file called formtool.mnu in it, so to avoid a conflict our Magic Menu
     is named FORMT.MNU.
     EXAMPLE:
1 FORMTOOL FORMT (enter) (FORMT is the Magic Menu)
The Index clearly shows programs and there Magic Menu names.

1.com is pretty intelligent, it will look at the last argument
and see if there is a Magic Menu by that name. If not it looks to the
next argument to the left, and if not then the next, and so on. This is
ideal for many programs that need arguments, such as word processors.
And finally if none of the arguments are valid Magic Menu names, it
     will try the program name.

For programs that need arguments this works well. Professional
Write for example you can type PW INSTRUCT.TXT and Professional Write
will come up with instruct.txt displayed. By using 1 PW INSTRUCT.TXT,
The 1.com realizes INSTRUCT.TXT is not a Magic Menu and looks to the
left at PW and finds there is a PW.MNU in your MMagic directory. Then
loads Mmagic.exe with PW.MNU, and tells you - PW Mouse Magic is loaded,
them executes Professional Write with Instruct.txt displayed.
     EXAMPLE:
           type: 1 PW INSTRUCT.TXT
will see: PW Mouse Magic loaded
                    (PW INSTRUCT.TXT will then execute)

1.com can handle up to 8 arguments and will send the first
valid Magic menu name it finds to Mmagic.exe.

    Nul:
To perform as above but you wish for Mmagic.exe not to display
that it is loaded simply add NUL. This tells the 1.com to go ahead and
load Mmagic.exe and execute the program, but not display -- PW Mouse
Magic is loaded --. This makes 1.com very useful. When using batch
files or shells like Norton Commander or Direct Access etc.
     EXAMPLE:
To execute Professional Write from a shell
                 1 PW NUL
The 1.com will load the PW Magic Menu then execute Professional
Write smoothly without telling you that Mouse Magic is loaded.

MENUS TO PLAY WITH (generic menus)

We have included some "Generic" menus. Try using these
menus on programs, games and the like. They each have there own
characteristic, and with a little experimenting you will find
they will work good on many programs.

                                                                       page 5

              Generic menus include: PRO1, PRO2, PRO3, PRO4, PRO5, PRO6.
there characteristics are listed in the index. Use mhelp.
     EXAMPLE:
            1 (program) (PRO1)

ABC-L and ABC-R gives you a popup menu (both Mouse keys
together) that has a selection of A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H,X, and Q. Many
smaller programs are heavy with alphabet menus, ABC-L displays a
menu on the left side, ABC-R the right.

              ABCENT-L and ABCENT-R work the same ( R=right L=left)
but after the menu selects the letter it adds enter.

NUM-L, NUM-R, NUMENT-L, and NUMENT-R work the same way for
     number heavy programs.
FKEYS-T and FKEYS-B for F key heavy programs.
                                          (T=top, B=bottom)

 STD.MNU (standard menu)

If the 1.com does not find a Magic Menu for the program you
are running it automatically loads a Menu called STD.mnu. STD.mnu is
     Mouse Magic's STANDARD Menu.

STD.mnu uses basic movements for the Mouse and are found very
usable for many programs of all kinds. You will find this basic
format will work tons of programs that you have.

   STD.MNU operation:
              Movement of STD.mnu:
                       Up - arrow up
                       Down - arrow down
                       Left - arrow left
                       Right - arrow right

              Buttons of STD.mnu
                       Left - enter
                       Right - escape
                       Both - F1

 SEE.COM (file viewer)

Included is a file viewer called SEE. See.bat should be in
the root directory. See allows you to view any ASCII file anywhere
in your computer without setting the path. See.bat allows the See.com
in the Mouse Magic directory to view a file in any directory you are in.
See.com uses your Mouse to scroll, page down and up, and to exit.
     EXAMPLE:
Switch to directory file is in
            type: SEE FileName (enter)

                                                                       page 6

 LOGITECH USERS (menu.com)

For those that have a Logitech Mouse we included our Menu.com.
Our Menu.com works the same way as Logitech but with important
differences, ours sends the menu instructions to Mmagic.exe, and does
not take up any RAM. By using our Menu.com you only need to load
Mmagic.exe. All instructions in batch files and shells that you
already have will work fine. This eliminates the need to rearrange
anything. Make a backup of Logitech's Menu.com then delete it.
      - Mouse Magic's directory MUST be in path for Menu.com to work. -
     EXAMPLE:
In a shell or batch file you may already have
                         menu xtree
                         xtree
This runs the Menu command to load the Mouse with xtree.mnu
           and then runs xtree.
     RESULT:
          - Logitech's Menu.com need not be used taking up additional RAM.
          - Shells and batch files you have need not be reconfigured.
